Para Imperium La Guerra De Las Galias is a strategy board game where players try to direct their forces across the Mediterranean Sea to conquer famous civilizations of antiquity. The game takes place on a map that covers much of Europe, North Africa, and Asia during the Classical Era. The game has 3 difficulty levels, so it is suitable for beginners as well as advanced gamers. It can be played with 2-4 players or online with other people from around the world. The Para Imperium website allows for downloadable printable rulebooks or people can choose to play online against random opponents who have chosen their difficulty level and ruleset preference. The Para Imperium website also has a chat service for players to communicate with one another. The game's creator, Nicki Koyama, is letting the community design new ways for them to play the game. Para Imperium La Guerra De Las Galias was created by Nicki Koyama of Rio Grande Games. It was published under Rio Grande Games' Para Imperium label in December 2006. It was released as a stand-alone download, with no boxed copies available. There are two expansions included with this game:These two expansions raise the playing board size by 25% and allow players to play as Norse and Greek city states as well as Carthaginian and Spanish city states. In March 2008, Para Imperium La Guerra De Las Galias was named Best Downloadable Game of 2007 by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences at their annual Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony.The rules can be downloaded from Rio Grande Games website or simply played via the online service. There are currently over 120 downloadable maps and over 100 downloadable scenarios available for free download from Rio Grande Games website.
